Methamphetamine control legislation proposed

On June 17, 2009, Representative Gordon (D-Tenn.) introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives legislation to enhance the government's ability to combat methamphetamine abuse. Titled “Combat Methamphetamine Enhancement Act of 2009,” the bill would amend the Controlled Substances Act and require self-certification by all regulated persons that sell the scheduled listed chemicals, such as ephedrine and pseudoephedrine products, used to make methamphetamines. The Attorney General would create a list of all persons who are self-certified and publish it on the Drug Enforcement Administration's website in an electronically-downloadable format. H.R. 2923, 111th Cong., 1st Sess. (2009).
